Change screen mode:

Change the way Photoshop views the canvas area by selecting one of the three view modes (press the keyboard shortcut F):

*The default view mode is Standard Screen Mode. Photoshop   appears in a window, and any open images appear in windows, too. This is the most common mode in which people use the program.

*Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar maximizes Photoshop, and also maximizes the image you have opened in your monitor. The Menu Bar is still available at the top of your screen, but the Photoshop title bar is hidden.

*Full Screen Mode also maximizes Photoshop and the active canvas. The only items visible are the palettes and the Options bar. This is a useful mode when you want to display your work to someone without any clutter. Press the Tab key on the keyboard and hide all palettes and the Options bar to get them out of the way of your masterpiece.

Hand tool:
When the Hand tool is active, you can hold down the Alt key (Option key on the Mac) and click the image to zoom out, or hold down the Ctrl key (Command key on the Mac) and click to zoom in — without needing to press the spacebar like you would with the normal keyboard shortcut. Scroll All Windows.

Rotate view tool:
Having the ability to quickly rotate the image view can sometimes make it easier to carry out certain types of retouching work, rather that be forced to draw or paint at an uncomfortable angle. To use the rotate view tool, select it from the tools panel and click and drag in a window to rotate the image around the center axis.

Rectangle tool:
The Rectangle tool creates rectangles with square or rounded sides. The Oval tool creates circular shapes such as ovals and circles. These shapes can be comprised of Strokes, which are lines that surround and define the shape, Fills, which are a color or texture inside the shape, or both.

Custom shape tool:
Photoshop actually ships with all of these shapes and more, and lets us add them to our designs just as easily as adding circles and squares. Adobe calls these more complex shapes custom shapes, and we draw them using the tool

Rounded rectangle tool:
A rounded rectangle is the shape obtained by taking the convex hull of four equal circles of radius and placing their centers at the four corners of a rectangle with side lengths and . A filled rounded rectangle with (or ) is called a stadium.

Path selection tool:
There are sections in a path defined by anchor points. A path can be open or closed, so either a straight line or a circle. Pretty much any shape you draw is a path and can be changed or moved using the path selection tools.

Direct selection tool:
In the Toolbox, select the Direct Selection Tool. Drag on the image to select a path or shape segment or click directly on an anchor point to select it*. Drag selected anchor point or segment (by an anchor point) to re-shape path or vector shape mask.

The Horizontal Type tool is used for typing text Horizontally on your image.

Type mask tool:
Using the Type Mask tool in Photoshop Elements epitomizes the combination of type and image. The Type Mask tool doesn’t create a new layer. Instead, it creates a selection on the active layer. This is the tool of choice for filling text with an image or cutting text out of an image so that the background shows through.

Pen tool:
The pen tool is one of the few tools available to you in Photoshop that works with Vector Graphics as opposed to Raster Graphics. Vector Graphics use mathematical statements and points in order to define their shape and other characteristics, and therefore are very scalable.

Freeform pen tool:
Just click and drag around the element you want to select, and the tool creates an outline that follows your cursor, exactly like the Lasso. After you release your mouse button, Photoshop provides the anchor points, lines, and curves for that path. In this way, the Freeform Pen works exactly like the Pen.

Convert point tool:
To add an anchor point, select the Pen tool or the Add Anchor Point tool, position the pointer over the path segment, and click. To delete an anchor point, do either of the following: Select the point with the Direct Selection tool and click Remove Selected Anchor Points in the Control panel.

Add anchor point tool:
The Add Anchor Point Tool adds anchors and reshapes existing vector shapes / paths (shape outlines). In the Toolbox, select the Add Anchor Point Tool. Click on the existing path to add an anchor point. Drag the added anchor point and / or its direction point to reshape line.

Dodge and Burn Tools:
The Dodge tool and the Burn tool lighten or darken areas of the image. These tools are based on a traditional darkroom technique for regulating exposure on specific areas of a print. Photographers hold back light to lighten an area on the print (dodging) or increase the exposure to darken areas on a print (burning).

Sponge tool:
The "Sponge Tool" is used to change the color saturation of an image. There are two modes of sponge tools: Saturate and Desaturate mode.Desaturate mode dulls the colors, turning them gray.Saturate mode increases the color density, making them brighter.Just select an area of the image to be changed.

Blur tool:
blur tool gives you the flexibility to blur certain sections of a photo, like the background, while leaving the foreground in focus. It helps create the sense of movement in a photo when the picture was taken stationary. You can use the blur tool to highlight an object in a photo by blurring the other objects in the photo. This tool is also used when touching up skin in photos. It helps smooth out the edges and blemishes without “coloring” them in. It’s a more natural approach.

Smudge tool:
The smudge tool is used to smear paint on your canvas. The effect is much like finger painting. You can use the smudge tool by clicking on the smudge icon and clicking on the canvas and while holding the mouse button down, dragging in the direction you want to smudge.

Sharpen tool:
Sharpen tool enhances details without introducing noticeable artifacts. With this tool, you can sharpen areas selectively without having to use a mask.

Eraser tool:
Photoshop's eraser tool can be found in the second group of icons in the toolbox. It has three variations: Eraser, Background Eraser and Magic Eraser. The eraser is basically a brush which erases pixels as you drag it across the image. Pixels are erased to transparency, or the background colour if the layer is locked.

Magic Eraser tool:
To use the Magic Eraser tool you simply click on the background somewhere and it will vanish. If you only have one layer open, when you click to remove the background the pixels will be turned into a transparency, in other words there will be nothing there so you'll just see a chequered pattern.

BG eraser tool:
The Background Eraser Tool is especially useful with photos that contain lots of fine detail along the edges between your subject and its background

History Brush tool :
Photoshop History Brush. The history brush uses a previous state or snapshot of an image. The tool makes a copy of the image as it was in a previous state, then uses the content of this copy to paint with.

Art history brush tool:
The Art History Brush tool paints with stylized strokes, using the source data from a specified history state or snapshot. By experimenting with different paint style, size, and tolerance options, you can simulate the texture of painting with different colors and artistic styles. Like the History Brush tool, the Art History Brush tool uses a specified history state or snapshot as the source data. The History Brush tool, however, paints by re-creating the specified source data, while the Art History Brush tool uses that data along with the options you set to create different colors and artistic styles.

brush tool:
In graphics and image-editing programs, the brush tool is an element of the painting tool that allows you to select a brush shape (square, circle, oval and so on) and also the the thickness in pixels you want to paint on your image with. As you move your cursor over the image it leaves a stroke of color.

pencil tool:
The Pencil tool is used to draw free hand lines with a hard edge. The pencil and paintbrush are similar tools. The main difference between the two tools is that although both use the same type of brush, the pencil tool will not produce fuzzy edges, even with a very fuzzy brush.

mixer brush tool:
Select the Mixer Brush tool from the Tools panel. This tool shares the same flyout menu as the Brush, Pencil, and Color Replacement tools. To load color into your reservoir, Alt+click (Option+click) where you wish to sample that color. You can also choose your desired Foreground color from the Tools panel.

color replacement tool:
Start by going to Image > Adjustments > Replace Color. Tap in the image to select the color to replace– I always begin with the purest part of the color. Fuzziness sets the tolerance of the Replace Color mask. Set the hue you're changing to with the Hue, Saturation and Lightness sliders.

 Patch tool:

The Patch Tool is one of the best tools Photoshop has to offer. It can save you a ton of time when trying to make some adjustments to your image. You can use it to remove small or large areas from your photo. You can also use it to duplicate parts of your photo. As long you you have an area in your image to sample, using the patch tool should be very easy to do. In today's episode, we'll show you how to use the amazing Patch Tool in photoshop!

Red eye :
Red-Eye occurs when a photo is taken with a flash that is too close to the subject. This is very common for on-camera flashes for that reason. To avoid the problem altogether, try using a larger flash such as a speedlight. Or, photograh in natural light instead.

Healing and Spot healing tool:
The spot healing brush is the default healing tool in Photoshop and can be used to clone areas from an image and blend the pixels from the sampled area seamlessly with the target area. The basic principle is that the texture from the sample area is blended with the color and luminosity surrounding wherever you paint.

Content aware move tool:
Now, you can drag the edges of the images outwards and the most important information will stay intact (human figure and the pier) while the more simple information (sky and water) will be extended to hit the new borders.
